Common questions
The deposit covers any damage beyond normal wear and tear, plus unpaid rent or service costs at the end of your stay. It is refunded within 30 days of move-out, once the room has been inspected, minus any deductions.
Service costs cover gas, water, electricity, WiFi, and communal area cleaning. Furniture, kitchenware, and bedding are included in the base rent — there are no separate setup fees.
Cancellations made more than 30 days before your start date are fully refunded minus a small administration fee. Cancellations within 30 days, or a no-show on move-in day, forfeit the deposit to cover the room being held.
No — we know most applicants are arriving from abroad. No Dutch guarantor, BSN, or local bank account is required to sign. Rent and deposit can be paid by international bank transfer or card.
Yes, contracts are signed digitally as part of the application flow, so you can complete everything before you land. You will need your Proof of Acceptance from RUG or Hanze to apply.
Rooms are reserved exclusively for students and affiliates of the University of Groningen (RUG) and Hanze University of Applied Sciences, for stays of up to four months.
